The Mill was my final major project at university, it was my first look into a longer time embedded with my subject. A weekend at first followed by a week with full equipment.
Further information:
A week in the lives of two foragers that have set up a business teaching foraging courses to people all over England, using these funds they are renovating a mill based in Ludlow. This is an ongoing project of a look into alternative ways of living in modern society.
Over the week I got to know Eric, Marlow and the surrounding farmers and land owners that have made their project achievable, to follow the guys at the mill's project go to http://www.wildfooduk.com
What I did
stayed with the team at wild food uk
How I did it
Using a minolta medium format and a back-up nikon f2 35 mm I documented a snapshot of life at the mill
What I learnt
As enjoyable as it was to embed myself within a working business of an interesting industry, the amount of imagery I captured became incredibly hard to curate. Some of the best individual images didn’t bring much to the overall snapshot of life at the mill.
A lot of the most compelling images seemed to be left on the cutting room floor, whether it was a good or bad decision will never be known.
